2008-09 Performance Dates

Tuesday, Dec. 2, 2008: Concert 7:00pm @ Bartlett Baptist Church Students wear green polo style Band shirt with Khaki colored pants (long pants or
skirts for girls) with shirts tucked in. Students arrive @ 6:30pm. REQUIRED EVENT FOR ALL BAND STUDENTS
 
Saturday, Dec. 13, 2008:  All-West TN Band Auditions 2nd & 3rd year Band students @ University School Jackson, TN; EXPECTED FOR 2+ YEAR STUDENTS
 
Tuesday, Dec. 16, 2008, 3:30pm King’s Daughters & Sons Home Concert: (SMS Band & BHS Band volunteers: SERVICE POINTS AVAILABLE!) Required rehearsal – if participating -  @ SMS Monday, Dec. 15, until 4:00pm.  Students wear festive holiday attire.  OPTIONAL; EXTRA CREDIT FOR PARTICIPATION
 
Thursday-Saturday, Jan. 29-31, 09:  All-West TN Band Clinic @ Cannon Center for the Performing Arts; For students who were selected during the Dec. 13, 08 auditions.
 
**Wednesday March 11, 2009: West TN School Band & Orchestra Association Concert Festival Ridgeway Middle School REQUIRED FOR HONOR BAND
 
Saturday, April 4, 2009: West TN School Band & Orchestra Association Solo & Ensemble Festival @ Cordova Middle School; $7.00 student fee per entry was paid in Band fees.  Additional fees are due from 7th & 8th Grade students ONLY IF THEY ARE PARTICIPATING IN MORE THAN ONE EVENT.  $7.00 for one additional event, $14.00 for two additional events due Thurs. March 6. Students wear green polo style Band shirt with Khaki colored pants (long pants or skirts for girls) with shirts tucked in.
REQUIRED EVENT FOR ALL BAND STUDENTS
** CD players required for solos!
 
Friday-Saturday, April 25-26, 09:  National Music Festival  St. Louis, MO (Overnight trip) TBA REQUIRED FOR HONOR BAND
 
April or May, 08:  8th Grade Band School Tour  (TBA – still tentative)

Thursday, May 7, 2008:  6:00pm PTSA Concert 8th Grade Band (short performance – we’ll be finished around 6:15pm.

Friday, Oct. 3, 2008:  All Band students are invited to Middle School Band night @ Bolton HS (Homecoming) vs Treadwell HS football game.  MS Band students admitted free (wearing SMS Band or School shirt or Band hoodie) & sit with the Bolton HS Band. Meet at 6:15pm at Bolton HS Band room.  Parents pick up students 9:45pm same place.  OPTIONAL
 
Band Party Sunday evening, Jan. 18, 2009:  Band Skating Party

Sept. 15-Oct. 1, 2008:  Band Fund Raiser Items delivered @ the 11-17 Band  
                                     Booster mtg.   
**Every family needs to either sell items or make a tax-deductible donation  to the SMS Band Boosters.  Corporate sponsors are welcome!  Please remember that SCS does not provide funding for our Band!
